Hardware
• It is the term used for the parts of the computer that you can touch and handle.
• It is the collective name given to all the devices that make up a computer system. These would include the visual display unit, processor, printer, modem, etc.

Software;
• It is the word used for the actual programs that allow the hardware to do a useful job. Without software, the hardware is useless.
• It is made up of a series of instructions that tell the computer what to do.

Input device;
• Input devices are used to get data into a system.
• These are some of example of input devices:
o Keyboard - the oldest and most familiar of all input devices
o Mouse – an input device that translates its movements on the desktop into digital information
o Tracker ball – it is like an upside down mouse
o Touch sensitive pad – this pads are commonly found on notebook computers. By moving a stylus across the pad, the cursor on the screen will also move (like mouse)

Storage device;
  • A storage device is a device for recording(storing) information(data)
  • The example of storage device is pen drive, hard-disk drive, CD-ROM, DVD, etc.

Output device;
• It is a peripheral that represents output from the computer.
• These are some example of output devices:
-Monitors or Visual Display Units (VDUs) – a devices similar to a television that receives video signals from the computer and displays the information for the user
-Printers - the device that produce hardcopy during printing
